A coordinated and action-oriented approach to unwanted and fraudulent spam, SMS messages and unwanted telemarketing calls were the goals of the June 8-12 meeting in Dublin of the “London Action Plan.” (LAP). LAP is a public-private network of regulators, enforcers, technologists, and anti-abuse professionals. LAP continues to identify ways to protect consumers through coordinated international activities that strengthen our ability to detect, intercept and deter illegal spam and telemarketing abuses.
LAP members at this meeting committed to the launch of compliance and enforcement sweeps, coordination with other enforcement and policy networks, and expanded outreach to counterparts in developing economies.
